While online window shopping, I noticed a relatively subtle trend of all things in color block.

Just check this dress from Asos with the horizontal blocks of color across the dress.

A tunic from forever 21. Great for layering. And i love the muted effects of this color block design compared to the above.

color-block-topshop.jpg

This tad messy looking top from topshop. The color combination screams tacky. And i really don’t fancy the silver patches which gives it such a space-y effect.

color-block-wetseal.jpg

Tunic from wetseal. The color combination here is definitely better. Bright yellow being played down by white and black. And the simple designs make it more interesting too.

ย Tips to wearing such patterns?

Choose a colour combination that works and not too over the top or outlandish that it becomes tacky.

Simple accessorisingย will help to spice up the outfit.

Color block effect on tunics and jumpers will be great for layering.

And look.. even celebs are embracing this passing trend..

But of course, she is probably not the best style icon to follow blindly ๐Ÿ˜›

I was excited when i read that LC is going to set up her own fashion line very sooon. And apparently it will be available online too. *Wee* I love her style. Simple, classy, chic and she has alot of fun accessorising…

Printed feminine top, tights, heels, oversized sunnies and a Chanel. So typical LC. Safe yet stylish ๐Ÿ™‚

Girly sundress and flip flops. More of her Laguna Beach style. But definitely still cute.

But, shorts and suspenders? Gosh..

Denim is a no go for suspenders. At least she could have paired tailored shorts at a more decent length with suspenders! Gasps.

Pardon the cheesy title but the store of the moment for both SB and I is definitely topshop. I’ve been stocking on their basic designs. Affordable, trendy and of decent quality. What not to love…

Of course the flipside is probably everyone on the streets wear them too. But oh wells, this is what i can afford for now. ๐Ÿ™‚ They are great for school or days out! Loves.

Besides the basic tops, im very much in love with everything else in the shop.

Lovin’ the brown base and neon colours contrast. Just read iamfashion and neon colours are the in things right now ๐Ÿ™‚

The square/ rectangularish necklines are definitely a must have for now. A thank god move away from the done to death kimono inspired v neck tops. Love the lace trimmings on this. The grey might be slightly drabby but can be spiced up with gold accessories ๐Ÿ™‚

I actually got something similar to this in dark pink. The cutting looks a bit dowdy but paired with tights, it tied the look together. The top has simple dotted details.

I like the lace hem at the end of the dress. Very chic casual. But the colour just seems a bit off for me at the moment. Need to see it in flesh. Heh.

ย So lovin’ topshop. Check out their webbie!

It’s that time of the year when undergrads here are either busy looking for jobs or internships. Being full-time students except when the long vacation break kicks in, we tend to look (at least in my opinion) rather gawky and very unsuitable for formal/office attire. But alas, when the occasion calls for such, we tend to have no choice but to stick to the usual boring black formal pants and long-sleeved shirts in whatever block colours they have like this:

Not only can this be boring, but being relatively poorer than full-time workers, we tend to buy shirts off any rack and the cutting and fit may not be nice at all. So that’s why I cringe and dread everytime the dress code screams formal and office wear.ย  Somehow, we young ones tend to look like poor waitresses instead of killer office workers. Haha.

Oh wells, but being young 20-somethings at a job for only a couple of months, we should really steer away from the usual pants-longsleeved-shirts combo. At the same time, we wouldn’t wanna look to sloppy either. So if you’re thinking of something else than a long-sleeved shirt, it should never be too low-cut, sheer or frilly till it makes you look like a flamenco dancer gone wrong. If your work/intern place permits, here are some suggestions below:

A short-sleeved cardigan long enough to hit the hips paired with solid grey pants. A classic monochrome outfit that wouldn’t scream boring but is yet safe.

A similar outfit, but this time with black pants and a silk jacket used as a top. Would look so sweet with flats.

This pintucked blouse is so adorable. They’re not frills or ruffles and yet they exude the same romantic flair without being OTT.

Perhaps if you get sick of pants, this skirt-blouse combo would be pretty awesome too.

This blouse, a cross between something masculine (the pockets) and feminine (the banded ribbon hem and sleeves) would make a really sweet ‘formal’ wear.

Okay, this may be a tad too casual since in this pic, it’s paired with jeans. But a little tweaking with pants would still be great. ๐Ÿ™‚

Not sure if the flare and cap sleeves would be abit too obscene in the office but maybe cover it up with a swing jacket or something? ๐Ÿ˜‰

Alright, while some workplaces may totally frown upon these suggestions, deeming it work inappropriate, I’d totally welcome my employees to be dressed in them if I ever own a company. Ha ha. Too bad law undergrads have no choice but to look like this (below) during their moot sessions and such. Poor SW.

Or should I say killer lawyers? Hur hur. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Ps: The title is a play on both formal and informal wear, if you never got it. Oh, how I wish I was Shakespeare who does word puns without having to explain himself. -_-

Has anyone read this yet? Since it was a rainy holidays, I got the chance to curl up in bed and get down to some serious chick lit reading. It basically chronicled the lives of rich and pretty socialities (think not of Paris Hilton) in the quest of love and anything fashionable. It started off rather slow and confusing, what with all the acronyms the protagonist ‘moi’ gave to words like Prospective Husbands (PH), private jets (PJs) and anorexic (ana) and the likes. The storyline got very predictible once a very cute guy was mentioned with passing disdain by ‘moi’, as in any other chick lits but what I love about this book was its detailed description of dresses worn by important people in the book. I drooled everytime I read ‘moi’ describe her outfits and those of her socialite friends. It’s a good no-brainer book you should read if you’re curious about the lives of the rich and fashionable. And if you love Chanel, Valentino, Zac Posen…

Meantime, Becky Bloomwood’s returning with a new baby! Check out the latest addition to our favourite Shopaholic series sometime next year…

Can’t wait! ๐Ÿ˜€

I’ve always knewn the Olsen twins do have a clothing line of their own but never bothered checking it out They have great style, but well they are known for alot of fashion misses too. But i really liked and was pleasantly surprised with what i saw at their online shop website ๐Ÿ™‚

The feel of the clothes was very peasant, bohemian chick look

This flowy fluttery top is so girly! But im loving the subtle prints upfront. And the square neckline too. The tie around the waist and end of sleeves make it very peasant-y looking.

This is a simple brown one. But yet if u look closer, it has all the nice details like the thin ribbons. Sweets. Andย this peasant top is perfect to accessorise with long necklaces! ๐Ÿ™‚

This one may be a bit too fluttery for my liking. But its sweet. I like the subtle banded waist giving it more shape and definition. Would be superb with necklaces too.

Ohh i really like this one. I love the indian-like summer prints. And the assymetrical cutting of the top and sleeves. Very bohemian chick! Can jus imagine this with a long black or wooden beaded necklace. ๐Ÿ™‚ And pair it with skinnies, your good to go! The details around the chest and colour are major thumbs up too!

The bags are nothing to gush over. But they definitely are in line with the whole look of the clothing line. This grommet bag is perfect to pair with the flowy tops just featured. The material looks feathery soft too. And this bohemian feel bag would look good with skirts too ๐Ÿ™‚

The simple flower motif is cute. Loving the colour of the bag, would call it sand brown. And this one has a more defined shape to it. Nice

ย Oh so what you waiting for. The prices are affordable! And the clothes have a nice indie touch to it. A move away from no tees! ๐Ÿ™‚

Exams just ended and been involved in a flurry of activities, sorry for lack of updates!

Anyways, since its now winter over in other countries, the thermal rage is HUGELY visible. Forever21 stocks them on a daily basis on the webbie! I always thought thermals are pretty cute but a tad unsuitable for our hot weather. BUT, i gotta say primp thermals are definitely a huge thumbs up!

All sorts of celebs have been seen in ’em, and they come in a range of different designs. Im lovin’ the rabbit and anchor prints!

So long sleeved ones are not soo practical in the sunny country. And mandee has an all over print type tee,ย  with cute club prints! I heart it alot. Its a twist to normal tees design, but SB told me i would look like a walking poker card!

Anyways, we realised Marc Jacobs has soo many of his signature jumpers with tee/ top worn inside like this:

Oh, and we realised how good this combo looks. Especially with skinnies and tights. ๐Ÿ˜€

So we scouted for some jumpers. And saw this really nice cheap one from forever 21

Polka dots, jumper, affordable. Need we say more?

And i scouted around saw this cute, slightly more pricey one. But this has a really nice vintagey print:)

To more jumpers scouting!
