I usually start with a moisturiser and sunscreen from Clinique.
Then the eye concealer
This product promises an anti-crease formula. Alas, it still stays in the creases under my eyes (yes, i think i have undereye wrinkles 😦 ). But the coverage is pretty good to cover the dark eye circles which i horridly have.
Then i smear this powdery foundation from Loreal all over my face. It provides a great base and acts as a concealer for me too. I’ve been using this for close to 3 years now and no complains 🙂 Coverage is great, stays for long and doesn’t appear thick or cakey.
For small zits and problem areas, this is probably a great solution. It probably doesn’t miraculously heals acne like it supposedly can. But it definitely provides the coverage needed for specific problem areas. And it is smooth and light, blends well.
Due to all the base makeup i wear, i usually just pat my Clinique Superpowder very lightly all over the place. Basically to blend all the foundation and concealers together. This is another superb product. Doesn’t streak even when sweaty and is not cakey. My main concern with makeup is that it doesn’t appear too thick.
When it comes to makeup itself (not base makeup), i don’t particularly splurge on more expensive products. This Rimmel bronzer was bought by a friend studying in the UK and i gotta say i love the effects it gives! Its light and not too dark that you appear streaky. I usually brush it lightly on cheekbones, forehead, chin and nose. Just light brushes for soft contouring.
This Rimmel blusher is my absolute fave. For the low price, it definitely delivers! Tried a MAC one previously and the texture was thick although it stayed on. However, the beginning part of putting it and waiting for it to wear off often made me look clownish. But with this Rimmel blush, the effect after putting on is just right. Its a soft shade of pink rose and has slight shimmer effect for a slight dewy look. Loves it!
Now im slowly discovering eye makeup. This Clinique cream shaper is much love. It doesn’t smudge, easy and smooth to apply. And has slight tinge of glitter to it.
On top of that i use red earth bronze eyeshadow to highlight the eye area and Maybelline mascara for now.
I realised i do put alof of gunk on my face. But i think the key to makeup is not how much you put but the effect you achieve. In all, if all that gunk doesn’t make u look fake and cake-like, then it should be fine 🙂
I bought my first proper tube a couple of months back, wasn’t a mascara wearer yet then. So got a drugstore one…
Well, my lashes definitely did not look as thick and lucious as the model in the ad. But it works pretty well, lengthens and volumises. My only qualm- it definitely is not as waterproof as it claims. One whole day out and slight dark shadows form under the eyes especially in the humid weather here. And i still could not figure how to use the white part and coat it with the black one without white flakes. So after a while i gave up and will just get the normal tube mascara. Heh
So im trying to see other higher end brands and maybe they do deliver as promise…Im addicted to mascaras now 🙂
I was reading a magazine that raved about benefit cosmetics. And apparently the mascara is such a hit still used by celebs like Cameron Diaz. It is one of the best sellers on the webbie. But im wondering if its waterproof, the website didn’t say so.
Diorshow is probably legendary in the mascara circles. Heh. Its supposedly really good but not as smudge proof if worn for a day out. But heard the effects are really good. Hmm, maybe might get this but 41 sgd for a mascara is extremely pricey.
My friend tried Lancome and said it was so good that it withstand a tearing session. Heh. Plus lancome ads always make their mascaras look so…powerful 🙂
Another old time fave is probably Estee Lauder. They have a wide range for mascaras to cater to all the different needs. Looks as promising too.
These are just some brands. If you have any secret powerful mascara brands that deliver, do share! 🙂
My makeup skills are really quite pathetic. But im really intrigued by how makeup can transform people especially eye makeup which is a precious skill to master.
Anyway makeup stuffs are really pretty and oh-so-tantalising yet such a waste of money in some sense. But this pretty blush from Clinique is gorgeous
My, so pretty. But its 53 sgd. That is super pricey for a blusher i guess especially after i have my MAC one. Hmm, but i read it doubles up as a bronzer. How convenient. Love the combi of colours in this one, dark swept with pink tones will be uber pretty.
Make up store, a Swedish brand if im not wrong has powder blushers which are a tad too grainy for my liking. But when i saw their duo creme blusher, gotta say it has nice shades for blending. Only worry: will make me look shiny and streaky. Need the proper skill i guess.
Saw the post on iamfashion on a gel liner by Bobbi Brown and saw this on the clinique webbie as well. All these liquid/ gel liners are very appealing.
From the webbie, it seems ideal for smoky looks and its definitely an easier way to apply than the normal liquid liner, i think. Probably easier to control.
Feel like getting an eyeliner in black or brown. Since currently using the eyeliner from Make up store in smoke. This is pretty good. Friends say it doesn’t smudge yet really glides on easily.
Inspired by SB’s make up post, i shall do a short review on blushers. Im on the lookout for new blushers especially since my loreal one is slightly too old (over a year) and the current elf one is just not too good.
Lets see some blushers on review in my list 🙂
Went to a local shop yesterday and saw revlon blushers. They had really nice peachy shades, which i like compared to the pinkish tones. And its cheap as well, only 19.90 sgd. Not too sure about quality and texture of the blush itself.
I’ve always been a fan of Clinique makeup products. My whole concealer, powder and lip range is from there. I’ve been considering this for some time, i may eventually get around to getting it. Although i don’t really fancy some of the shades i saw on the website.
From Clinique as well, and im loving this palette thing. Its almost like a blend of blushers and bronzers. How cool, especially since im on the lookout for bronzers too. Probably quite pricey.
Estee Lauder blushers are more on the higher end. But alot of reviews rave about their blushers so i guess its worth the money. My sis uses this and she loves the texture. Check out the wide brush they provide, good for an even coverage 🙂
What can a makeup feature be without MAC. Their blushers are quite renowned as well and moderately priced. Not too sure about whether their blusher comes with a brush. If not the hassle of storing the blush will not make this too worth it.
Oh and Red Earth has some really nice blushers as well. I like the two tone part, similar to Estee Lauder’s one. And this of course, more affordable. 🙂
Do share on which brands make u tick 🙂
As much as SW and I love shopping for clothes, shoes and accessories, we loathe and dread to part hundreds for make up. Yes, this is sinful we know. >_<
Currently, I’m using low-end to mid-range make up brands. Hopefully tomorrow when I drop by a department store, I’ll get my favourite Clinique superpowder. It’s finishing and I’ve been using scraps of it. :S And it’s too bad this bulk shop which sells it a tad cheaper doesn’t carry the shade I’m using. How awful.
Anyway I have to thank SW for introducing me to this powder a year ago. It provides the coverage I need for my shine and holds the concealer properly for me. It’s not too cakey nor loose either.
Clinique’s All About Eye Concealer. SW bought this sometime last week I think. Care to give a review, dearie? 🙂 I’m guilty of using my face concealer for the eyes too. And lately, as my assignments pile up, I’ve been getting less than 5 hours of sleep every night. :S
Perfectly Real Makeup Tint Foundation. I’m also guilty of skipping the foundation process. Yikes. I’ve tried Loreal’s Sheer Cashmere Foundation but found it too tawny on my skin. I look a tad cakey too. I wonder if this would be a perfect solution.
Superfine Liner for Brows. I wonder how hair-like its texture is. The Avon Glimmerstick I’m using right now is pretty fine for me but I gotta take good care not to draw it too dark, or I’ll end up looking like Parameswara (a mythic Javanese figure). Haha!
Mac’s Blush Creme. It’s touted as “luxuriously soft and creamy and will give a vibrant, dewy fresh, slightly shiny look to the cheeks.” Hmms. Sounds tempting, alright. The ELF blush I’m using right now is a pretty good affordable one but doesn’t give me the shine look. Hah.
So what’s your makeup regime like? 🙂
